Introduction
"FOR THE SOUTH GREAT PLAIN" ORGANIZING PUBLIC ASSOCIATION was established in April 2000 with 12 founder members from South Great Hungarian Plain region. The members of the Public Association are economic and counsellor organizations from the 3 counties (Bács-Kiskun-, Békés-, and Csongrád county) of the region.
The founder members are independent expert organizations and private individuals wishing to demonstrate their devotion to regional cooperation with their aggregation. Their principle is the "1+1=3" cooperation thesis that is to say that constructive cooperation results in extra proceeds while lack of cooperation may cause human and business failure.
The activities of the founders contain cooperation in solving operational tasks and educational, informational, tourism, development and economic matters of the - mainly small and medium size-enterprises of the South Great Plain Region. These activities are the most stressful although cooperation meeting the requirements for obtaining European Union applications for grants is also significant.
We desire to dedicate our experiences, territorial knowledge, knowledge of historical and economical capabilities, direct connection to enterprises gained through the years to the development of the South Great Plain Region to become a model region.
The operation of "FOR THE SOUTH GREAT PLAIN" ORGANIZING PUBLIC ASSOCIATION is inspired to harmonize and level up the economical, social and enterprise - developmental activities therefore the organization is open to project proposals of high value serving the development of the region.

Aims of public utility of "For the South Great Plain" Organizing Public Association are the following:
- Strengthening the regional identity-consciousness of the inhabitants of the South Great Plain Region,
- cooperation in elaboration of developmental concepts of the South Great Plain Region and its small
regions, - helping the regional cooperation of the non- profit branch of the business sphere,
- undertake and elaboration of regional projects of high professional value!
The public association took part as responsible organization in implementation of several Operative Programs of the South Great Plain Region which proves the successful operation of the organization. Besides a part of the members took part in preparing the Operative Program called "Promoting the Preparations of the Population for Joining the European Union".
For the South Great Plain" Public Association' s name and activities is becoming more and more familiar and acclaimed in the region. The reason is dual:
On the one hand the Public Association strives for participating in and launching initiatives that undoubtedly serve regional interests and connected to these initiatives it carries out a widespread conciliation of interests with the actors of the region through the owners. The stability of the market position mostly comes from the fact that every founder member has outstanding success in its own specialty and most of them has several decades of acknowledged work which allows them to take part in the foundation and operation of a non-profit regional organization.
On the other hand the Public Association which is connected to the non- profit branch of the business sphere and emphasizes its political and business independence has an outstanding role in the region which is because although the public administration system accepted and implemented the European Union approach and institutional system it is rarely true in the world of enterprises. That's why there are so few near-enterprise organizations specifically and aimed at regional activities. Beside most of them are profit oriented therefore understandably acting according to their economical interests rather then the regional interests.
